Blues Traveler é uma mistura de estilos dos anos 60 e 70, de bandas como Grateful Dead e Led Zeppelin, capazes de mesmo com essas influências ter seu próprio estilo e hoje mesmo influenciarem novas bandas.
O álbum de estreia foi Blues Traveler em 1990, seguido por Travelers & Thieves em Setembro de 1991. Save His Soul é o terceiro álbum da banda gravado em Abril de 1993 (o primeiro da banda a entrar entre os top 100), seguido pelo quarto álbum intitulado Four gravado em setembro de 1994 (esse álbum foi o grande estouro da banda, obteve grande vendagem de discos bem como destaque nacional e internacional) em parte o sucesso desse álbum se deve a música "Run-Around" que se tornou um dos hits de 1995.
Em um clipe exibido pela MTV, chegam a brincar um pouco com a carreira.
Explica-se: o clipe mostra uma garota tentando assistir a um show do Blues Traveler. Para sua surpresa quando consegue entrar no show quem está no palco são outras pessoas, particularmente bonitas dublando a banda... e atrás do palco está o verdadeiro Blues Traveler tocando. Nota: como pode perceber-se na foto (eles realmente não são os mais bonitos do mundo) e resolveram brincar com isso.
Enquanto preparam o próximo álbum é lançado o Live From the Fall no verão de 1996 (como o próprio nome já diz), um álbum ao vivo, simplesmente perfeito capaz de captar toda a energia de seus shows, onde inclui-se até mesmo uma versão de Imagine com a gaita inconfundível de John Popper.
No
verão de 1997 é lançado Straight On Till Morning, mais um grande álbum
da banda já há muito firmada no mercado fonográfico norte americano, e
mais ainda pelos fãs blueseiros do mundo todo.
