Em
1975, o guitarrista Mark Reale e o baterista Peter Bitelli recrutaram o
baixista Phil Fiet e o vocalista Guy Speranza e gravaram uma demo com
quatro faixas. Mais tarde juntam-se á banda o tecladista Steve Costello
e o guitarrista Louie Kouvais. Pouco depois Jimmy Iommi substitui Phil
Fiet.
Em 1977 é
apresentado o primeiro álbum da banda Rock City. No ano seguinte o
guitarrista Rick Ventura entra na banda. Narita é lançado em 1979. A
banda sai em tour pela Europa pela primeira vez, onde toca no primeiro
Monsters Of Rock.
Iommi
e Bitelli deixam a banda e são substituídos por Kip Leming (baixo) e
Sandy Slavin (bateria). Esta formação viria a gravar o álbum Fire Down
Under.
Depois da turnê europeia, a banda voltou aos Estados Unidos, onde tocou com Sammy Hagar e AC/DC.

Após a tour de Fire Down Under, Guy Speranza sai da banda. Rhett Forrester ocupou o seu lugar.
Depois do álbum Born In America não ter alcançado o sucesso pretendido, Mark Reale decreta o fim da banda. Speranza e Iommi tornaram-se empresários e Sandy Slavin tocou na banda de Ace Frehley (Kiss), Frehley Comet. Rhett Forrester cantou com Jack Starr e gravou álbuns solo vindo a falecer em 1994, assassinado na cidade de Atlanta. Mark Reale montou um projeto, que também não teve sucesso.
Mark Reale decidiu voltar com a banda, com uma nova formação: Tony Moore nos vocais, Don VanStavern (baixo) e Bobby Jarzonbek na bateria. Esta formação gravou o álbum Thundersteel, em 88.
O álbum The Privilege Of Power, lançado em 1990, conta com novos membros: o guitarrista Mike Flyntz e o baixista Pete Perez.
Em 1994 é apresentado o álbum Nightbreaker. Os vocais ficaram a cargo de Mike DiMeo. Após este lançamento Jarzombek saiu da banda. John Macaluso foi convidado para baterista.
The Brethren of the Long House é apresentado em 1996. Dois anos depois é a vez de Inishmore. Depois da gravação deste álbum Jarzonbek volta a banda.
Atualmente Mike DiMeo faz parte da banda Masterplan.
Em 25 de Janeiro de 2012, Mark Reale morreu devido a complicações referente a doença de Crohn. Após reuniões com o pai de de Mark, Tony Reale, a banda decidiu continuar tocando, mas agora sob o nome Riot V. Texto: Wikipédia.
