Ela tornou-se famosa após sua canção “LA Song (Out of This Town)”, tornar-se trilha sonora de um episódio da 10ª temporada do seriado “Beverly Hills, 90210”.
Beth Hart foi fascinada pela música desde criança. Aos quatro anos de idade, ela começou a tocar piano. Primeiramente, ela se concentrou em obras clássicas de Bach e Beethoven, mas à medida que crescia, ela também começou a tocar peças mais mainstream de artistas como Etta Jones, Otis Redding e até Led Zeppelin.
Quando ela tinha cinco anos de idade, seu pai foi condenado à prisão por tráfico de drogas. Após a sua libertação, os pais de Beth divorciada após 15 anos de casamento. Aos 11 anos, Beth se começou a usar álcool e drogas e, aos 15 anos, seu namorado a apresentou à heroína.
Beth participou do Los Angeles High School for the Performing Arts como cantora e violoncelista. Nessa época, ela se apresentava a céu aberto com frequência. Ela também entrou em várias competições de talento, onde deixou algumas ótimas impressões. O concurso de talentos mais conhecido no qual entrou foi o “Star Search” em 1993. Ela ganhou 13 episódios seguidos, cantando as músicas de Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge e Aretha Franklin, além de canções que ela mesma tinha escrito, incluindo ‘Show Me the Way “e” I Am the One ‘. Ela foi a vencedora do Star Search.
Como resultado das noites de espetáculo, ela faltava muito às aulas da escola e acabou sendo expulsa. Ela começou a estudar para trabalhar com imóveis, mas descobriu que isso não era para ela. Ela decidiu desistir disso e seguir o seu coração: a música.
