Descoberta por Gene Simmons baixista do Kiss em uma casa noturna, foi apresentada por ele a Casablanca Records e logo em seguida gravaram seu primeiro disco. A banda inicialmente vestia-se toda de branco, algo totalmente oposto aos seus parceiros de gravadora.
Ridicularizados inicialmente pela crítica, a banda nunca atingiu um bom sucesso comercial, posteriormente após o lançamento dos três primeiros discos, conseguiram um melhor status.
Seu primeiro álbum foi o auto - intitulado Angel, lançaram mais dois discos com a formação original. Depois de mudanças gravaram mais quatro discos entre 1977 e 1999, sendo deles um ao vivo. Depois de 20 anos em 2019 gravaram o álbum Risen e em 2023 o álbum Once Upon a Time.
