Como guitarrista da banda de glam metal Danger Danger, ele fez uma turnê mundial com o Kiss e Alice Cooper, vendeu mais de um milhão de discos em todo o mundo, e teve dois # 1 vídeos na MTV, e acumulou uma discografia que inclui sete lançamentos solo que variam de instrumentais de guitarra, ao blues, e até uma coleção inspirada nos Beatles / Elvis Costello de músicas pop.
Muitas colaborações de Timmons incluem um CD ao vivo com Olivia Newton John (Timmons foi seu diretor musical e guitarrista para muitas turnês nos EUA), dois álbuns com Kip Winger, sessões de gravação para Paula Abdul e Paul Stanley, e jingles de rádio e televisão. Ele também tocou ao lado de Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, Ace Frehley, Ted Nugent, Reb Beach e Pierre Bensusan, além de alguns de seus cantores favoritos da década de 1960, como os Beach Boys, Lesley Gore e Gordon Waller.
Tocando com o baterista / líder de banda Simon Phillips em quatro álbuns entre 1997 e 2015, Timmons demonstrou um alcance que se estendeu muito além do rock e da música pop, proporcionando uma enérgica fusão de jazz que rendeu elogios da crítica e do público.
Timmons nasceu em Evansville, Indiana. Ele se formou na Evansville Harrison High School em 1981 e estudou guitarra jazz na Universidade de Miami. Ele atualmente reside em Dallas, Texas.
A banda Andy Timmons lançou seu novo álbum, intitulado "Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper" em 25 de outubro de 2011.
Andy também contribuiu com a música "Grabbag" para o videogame Duke Nukem Forever em 2011.
Em agosto de 2014, Timmons participou da G4 Experience - uma semana de violão - com os guitarristas Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert e o tecladista Mike Keneally.
